Bringing new life to iconic Leicester landmark

The architectural magnificence of the Dunlop Rubber Factory Building in Leicester reflects an era of industrial confidence, dynamism and entrepreneurial ambition. Through the faded grandeur of the facades, the building’s glorious past is still evident in the scale, quality and features of the design.

Well North Enterprises is pleased to be working with entrepreneurial developer Obstrat in seeking to revitalise this important site as an exemplar of high quality integrated development. It will bring together intergenerational living, high end textiles, health and enterprise, to uplift a community catalysing a new direction for the city.

Haroon Shaikh, Obstrat Managing Director, said: “We see this project as an important opportunity to reshape this part of Leicester and create a place of opportunity, raise health standards and create a true sense of community and pride.  Our work with Well North Enterprises is enabling us to broaden our vision, explore possibilities and bring the project to life through building connections with local and national organisations and people.”

“The Obstrat team have an inspiring vision for transforming this landmark building into a 21st century urban village,” said Lord Andrew Mawson, Executive Chairman of Well North Enterprises. “We’re delighted to be supporting them and Yeme Architects in shaping the business model and securing the partners and investors to deliver this transformational project.”
